How to Start, Host and Monetize Podcast. (The Complete Steps)

Podcasts are a great way to connect with people who share your interests. They’re also a great way to promote your brand and build your audience.

The setup cost can be quite high. In contrast, a podcast just needs a decent mic, an open-source recording, and editing software.

Podcasting is a channel that can grow without any paid investments. The guests that you invite to your podcast are more than eager to share your podcast with their audience.

Your podcast is going to be available on Apple Podcast, Google Podcast, Spotify, Anchor, and Pocket Casts, and your podcast channel is going to be on those places.

Yes, do you guys think do you think that when you create your podcast, you will have your podcast channel and all these different places.

You are going to have just the way people have channels on YouTube, you are going to have your own podcast channel on Spotify or Apple podcaster Google podcast, amazon music, and so on and so.

we understand all this means it’s an audio-only channel that I create on all these different platforms where I keep on uploading new audio files on the topic of, you know, my interest right now,

then the question is, what are these audio files all about.

What do you guys think this podcast audio is all about

do you think podcasts are only inspirational motivational stuff, or do you think they can be on other topics as well?

So podcast can literally be on any topic art on science history and literature on politics and finance food fashion travel mental health and parenting, you name it right whatever you can think of whatever topic that you are passionate about, or whatever topic that you are an expert on or something that you want to learn, right, like..storytelling….So, absolutely, it could be storytelling, it could be comedy you think about anything and you can share that as a podcast. Alright, so now.

Now what about the format the new thing podcaster is always two people having conversations with each other or it could also be just one person talking to, you know, the audience what do you guys think?

What do you guys think? Yeah, it can be anything right so if you are an expert at something and you want to share something with the world, then that could be a monologue or a solo podcast

or

You want to invite someone to interview that person on your podcast and have the conversation with the person that could be an interview-based podcast or maybe you are a friend of you, and both of you are really passionate about a certain topic let’s say cricket, you sit down every single week and have conversations about cricket, or sports or whatever the topic that excites you, and then share that is a conversation, then that could be a conversion a podcast,

or

Maybe you are a storyteller like you know I was saying, maybe you have stories to share you want to take people on the emotional roller coaster then that could be a storytelling podcast.

Maybe you are a comedian, you want to make people laugh, or maybe you want to create all your documentary with the sound effects and background noise and all the drama and whatnot right so that could be a documentary style of a, you know, or the narrative style storytelling podcast as well. So, the point could be You can have, and you can even embed your own format. You can also come up with your own, you know, structure to your podcast, there is nothing written in stone you can feel free to experiment and come up with creative ideas on how you want to do your podcast.

All right, so is everyone clear on what podcast is its audio medium that’s available on platforms like Apple Podcast, Google Podcast, Spotify, Anchor, Pocket Casts, JioSavan, Gaana or any of the music streaming platforms where people can subscribe and listen to what I have to share, I can upload my audio on those so people can subscribe. It can be anything. It can be an interview, it can be solo it can be on any topic that I feel like sharing.

If you guys are clear on what a podcast is because now that we all are on the same page this is going to be so much more fun.

Bonus Tips for Great Podcast to boost your podcast.

Interesting Format

Our goal was to make the podcast episodes anything but boring. Here are a few things that made the show really interesting:

  • Strong hooks to get the audience right into it
  • Every 2 mins, there’s something that’ll make you laugh
  • We experimented with new segments on every few episodes (games, rapid fires, and whatnot)
  • Audience voice notes to engage an audience and get the conversation going.

Keep it very personal

Audiences love listening to the host who comes across as authentic and vulnerable. Niharicka, the host of the show did a great job with this.

We made it a point to bring out some of the very personal stories of the host. It was an instant connect with the audience. They felt they could deeply relate with the host, making them want to come back for more.

Super Solid Structure

When hosts and guests go all over the place, it is a big turn-off for the podcast audience. We addressed that with a solid structure while allowing room for some spontaneity.
